Twenty thousand customers who requested a promotional video from Gateway 2000 Inc about the company's computer products were shocked to find thirty seconds of pornographic material included in the film. The production company hired by Gateway to produce the video blamed a disgruntled employee.
Amtrack personnel at Springfield, Massachusetts evacuated most of the train station when staff heard a ticking sound inside a piece of luggage. The tried unsuccessfully to contact the number listed on the luggage tag, so police opened the bag ... to discover that the ticking came from a vibrating sex toy.

The owner showed up shortly after to claim the bag, somewhat red-faced.


Colgate introduced a toothpaste in France called Cue, the same name as a notorious French porno mag. Fresca, the soft drink, had problems when it was sold in Mexico. 'Fresca' in Mexico is slang for lesbian.
In Germany, Sunbeam's Mist-Stick curling iron was translated into 'manure wand.' In Italy, a campaign for Schweppes Tonic Water translated the name into Schweppes Toilet Water.
