The Group 8 selectors met at Bairnsdale during the day and included Greg King from Neerim, Andrew Kent from Traralgon, Rod Wilson from Warragul, Ian Caines from Moe  and Alex Muirhead from Moe in the combined Gippsland (Group 8) side of 16 to play at Moama, in the statewide Group Sides Championship on January 13 & 14, 2001
