VOG Chess By far the best site I've found, although it costs a small annual fee, it's worth it. It has some nice features like, you get a rating based on your performance, if you get disconnected during a game you can continue it later, it saves all games played there in a database which you have access to, you can have it auto save all the games you play on your computer in PGN format, and many more features. You do get a 1 month trial period to try before you pay.

Gaming Zone A very good and popular site.

Cyber Chess Quick and easy to set up and get going.

If you play Chess online, then you may find ICQ very useful to keep in touch and arrange games with other players that you meet.

The Chess ladder is a on going competition were you make and receive challenges from others on the ladder, and move up and down the ladder depending on your results. Most players play at the Zone or Vog Chess.          Most games are scheduled at US Pacific time so you will find Time zone converter quite useful.
