Things to See & Do

A visit in February each year will be rewarded with the "Wood, Wine and Roses Festival" and the delights of local arts, crafts, parades, rides, food and wine tastings. Heywood's roses are a sight to behold and a trip to the Bolwarra Berry Farm or a visit to the rambling Bowerbird Nest and Garden are highly recommended. Pioneer Country includes the Lake Condah area - an area of great significance as it is the only place in Australia where Aboriginal people built permanent houses out of stone. Part of the Volcanoes Discovery Trail.  Winda Mara Aboriginal Centre - tours to Lake Condah organised from the centre, Golf, Tennis, Bowling, Fishing in the Fitzroy River.
