Title: After a Hard Day.

Medium: Watercolour.

Size: 70cm x 86cm (including frame)

Description: Many of the Kanakas and their descendants worked in the sugarcane fields, cutting cane in the hot Queensland sun. Alf Dow was one of these men. He was Susanne's father. This painting was done to remember that contribution to the industry..

Title: The Boss’s House.

Medium: Oil on canvass.

Size: 58cm x 48cm (including frame)

Description: Adies were the largest sugarcane farm in Queensland back in the early 1900s. Many Kanakas worked clearing the land and planting cane. The Adies farm and house still remain outside of Childers —a reminder of the labour of the Kanakas and one of their bosses.

Title: Kanaka Swimming Hole Childers.

Medium: Watercolour.

Size: 71cm x 52cm (including frame)

Description: The waterhole was used by the Kanakas in the 1800s and by their descendants for years after. Len Cole was one of these young descendants who swam in the Bolton’s waterhole.
