You are propably smart enough to use this site without ever reading this page, but you might pick up some helpful tips, and be even smarter, if you keep on reading. This page explains how you can make the most of the Simply Christians Australia site (simplybible.com).
Top Tip... Use the blue Simply Christians logo at the top of any page. It takes you to the bottom of the page for full site access. No matter where you are on this site, Pick-a-Box at the bottom of each page provides a hyperlinked directory to all of the other pages.
Refreshing pages It is advisable to refresh a page that you revisit after using it a few days ago. We do not force your browser to reload. Your browser may be showing you an old copy of a page or using out-of-date system files, rather than the latest version on the server. This means you are not seeing the proper page display. If you are using Internet Explorer, press the Ctrl button on your keyboard while you hit the f5 key or click the refresh icon. Otherwise, the browser might not load all the files needed for a true refresh.
The Search Page... introduces you to searching simplybible.com with our own simplybibleFinder search engine and database. You are also linked to an alternative page that helps you search this site with the popular Google search engine. We include these search tools in addition to our own extensive alphabetical indexes.
The simplybibleFinder... (just mentioned) allows you to search simplybible.com's extensive database to obtain a list of lessons and pages relevant to words, phrases, and questions which you enter. It will also link you to any relevant lists in our extensive topical indexes. The simplybibleFinder search box is at the top and bottom of every page. The search page explains how to use simplybibleFinder.
Pick-a-Box... section at the bottom of every page is a comprehensive yet compact site map and navigation aid. It's as easy as picking a box. No matter where you are on this site, on each of the pages, Pick a Box provides a hyperlinked directory to just about everything.
Site Map... shows you the design of the Simply Christians Australia site. It gives you access to service, help, and information pages, to the contents page, and to alphabetical and topical indexes, which in turn link you to the study pages on this site. There is also one of those dreadfull branching tree site maps for simplybible.com —
because the webservant can't live without it. You can.
Active content... on this site is controlled by scripts (JavaScript). Security systems watching over your computer may disable these. In this case, you will see only a simple version of the page without the bells and whistles. However, even with scripts disabled, you will still be able to view, navigate, and enjoy simplybible.com quite successfully. (Your system is currently disabling Javascript).
Threads Pages... provides other topical groupings. Lessons on simplybible.com are grouped into topical series. However many other topics are covered by lessons scattered among several series. Such lessons are connected as it were by threads to provide alternative lesson sets. When a lesson belongs to a thread, there will be a yellow THREAD box in the pick-a-box array. Just click on that box to get the thread listing.
What’s New Page... lists the latest additions to the Simply Christians Australia site. If you use this site a lot, this page helps you find new material. The page lists all new lessons (latest at top), and informs you of recent developments.
Page Heading Pictures... link you to all the lessons in a series. Click in the upper half of the small square graphic, and you step forward to the next lesson in the series ring. Click in the lower half, and you get the series listing where you can choose any item in the series. (You can also use the yellow NEXT and LIST boxes in Pick-a-Box.
Corner Menus... with the kangaroo "hop me there" icon also now appear on most pages (at top left). These mini-menus are a handy way to gain access to main pages.
Moving Around... in a page is made easier with jump points such as blue arrows that you click to scroll that point to the top of the screen. A few pages have “jump to...” links, usually before the beginning of the lesson. These links drop you to an appropriate part of the page.
Resizing the Window... in which you are viewing a page, will result in word wrapping for your convenience. The page rearranges itself to fit nicely into the smaller window. Hooray! You don’t have to scroll sideways! What’s more, with simplybible.com in a narrow window, you have room on your screen for other things. Browsers have different ways of dealing with narrow windows. Opera is best, Internet Explorer is okay, Mozilla Firefox is least flexible.
Scripture Text... may be provided from Bibles on line, where lessons are based primarily on one portion of Scripture. The online Bible used is the World English Bible (WEB). The copyright on this version allows it to be used as though it were public domain. You can access the scripture text by using links provided or via a yellow TEXT box in the Pick-a-Box array. You can always get any book of the Bible anytime from the Pick-a-Box array, just by clicking on the blue ABBREV box. In the resulting table of Bible books, click on the abbreviation of a book name, and that book will appear in a separate window. Of course you have to be on line or have the book cached to access a book from the online Bible.
Annotations... help to make useful extra information available to a page without clutter on the page itself. The small question-mark symbol following a word, indicates the existence of an annotation regarding that word. Click the symbol, whereupon this page will open to display the extra information. Your browser's back button will take you back to the main page.
Printing of pages... In some cases, an A4 print version (Word 2003) is provided. However in most cases there is a simple way to prepare a page so it prints to your liking. Highlight the text of the page (select all), then drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste it into a Microsoft Word template or blank document. The font styles should transfer. You may want to highlight any dot pointed sections and click the bulleting tool twice to improve their layout. You may also want to change font size, insert a page break, and delete unwanted images and Word-inserted icons. Please leave the term "www.simplybible.com.au" and the copyright notice intact at the bottom of the page. When the document is to your satisfaction, save it to your computer (optional) and then print it.
