UP 1st Thessalonians

This is a verse by verse study of Paul’s first letter to the Thessalonians. The letter is divided into five topical sections.

Christ in Us (1:1-10)We begin our study with the salutation or greeting, then a section concerning Christ in us.

Paul's Work (2:1 to 3:11)Paul reviews his work among the Thessalonians. We can find in Paul's comments, at least twelve important aspects of his ministry.

Holiness in Life (3:12 to 4:12)Paul emphasises holiness or sanctification. He teaches four important points about holiness.

The Second Coming (4:13 to 5:11)Paul teaches about the second coming of Christ. Christians believe not only that Christ died for our sins, rose from the dead, and ascended into glory, but also that he his coming again in the future to judge the world.

Relating to Each Other (5:12-15)Paul provides teaching on the way in which members of the local congregation should relate to each other.

 


UP 2nd Thessalonians

This is a verse by verse study of Paul’s second letter to the Thessalonians. The letter is divided into five topical sections.

Seven Goals in Grace (2Th 1:1-5,11-12)An inspirational lesson in 2nd Thessalonians chapter 1, joining the first five verses with the last last two.

Seven Fears in Wrath (2Th 1:6-10)Now we look at the flip side. Paul is very aware that, as well as the grace and mercy of God, there is the wrath and retribution of God.

The Antichrist (2Th 2:1-12)These verses describe the Antichrist. We note several characteristics.

Called and Chosen (2Th 2:12-3:5)Paul mentions seven very special blessings which make those who have come to God very special people.

Christian Intolerance (2Th 3:6-18)This passage reminds us that Christianity is a religion with rules and discipline. It has a stern and intolerant side to it.

 


UP Disciples of Christ

These lessons complement the Faith-Hope-Love series. They are especially suitable for new disciples. The lessons are each complete units and may be used separately as sermons.

Three Kinds of FriendshipFriendship should extend into three realms, firstly, that of our brother man, secondly that of self, and thirdly that of God.

A study about the change of covenants from the old Mosaic law to the gospel of Christ. We ask and answer some pertinent questions about this change.

Who was the New Covenant For?To whom did Jesus mediate the new covenant? This lesson shows it was the whole world.

How was the New Covenant Instituted?It was instituted by God unilaterally. God did not negotiate it with man, he mediated it to man. Its outcome for each person (grace or wrath) is dependent on whether the person keeps it or disobeys it.

Why was the New Covenant Needed?There had to be a better covenant for several reasons. We list the main ones.

Why is the New Covenant Better?It was Based on Better Promises. It was Ratified by Better Blood. It Came through a Better Mediator.
