OTHER KNOWN INFORMATION OR COMMENTS:-  John Hoare was sentenced to death for Mutiny in a trial at Portsmouth on 8th Sept 1798.  He arrived in Australia as a convict at Sydney on the "Canada" on 14th Dec 1801 after leaving England on 21st June 1801 and coming via Rio de Janeiro.  He was also imprisoned on Norfolk Island between 1802 & 1804.  He obtained his "Ticket of Leave" on 15th Jul 1811.  By 1828, John, his wife Elizabeth and family were living at Airds.

Additional information was provided to me about John by Marion Starr who has written a book titled :- "Murder, Mayhem & Misdemeanours - Early Settlers at the Cowpastures River NSW 1810 - 1830"  John is mentioned on pages 6, 15, 31, 65, 193, 194, 196, 212, 230, 257, 259, 263, 264.  Information about the vessel "Canada (1)" which he came to Australia on can be found on page 194.  The book also mentions over 120 people living in that area at the time giving details about them and the ship they arrived here on, stories of life back in that era, shows maps of land grants and references to where all the information was obtained from.
