The Art and Technology stuff
Welcome, I am a digital artist based in Mount Gambier. I love to create digital images and 3d models as well as dabbling in animation. I was introduced to cgi when my mother Josephine otherwise known as JosephineAu of CuradukCreations introduced me to Metacreations Poser4 in 1999. I began to explore this new and different way to create my artistic visions when I purchased my first personal computer in the year 2000.
I was a little lost at first in the Digital art world not to mention that the computer interface had changed so much since I had first dabbled in computing many years ago that nothing I used to know
applied at all anymore... imagine programming 300 lines of code into your computer terminal just to play a pathetic guessing game heh heh,
now the user can open little windows and point and click.
I really do have to admit that I did wholeheartedly enjoy the writing of programming code back then and I absolutely plan on becoming adept at
this endeavor... all I have to do now is learn how to do it 21st century style.
I began to explore and learn as much as I could find out about creating digital art, models, animation and fixing my own Computer!
I find that I will be learning and re-learning this stuff forever which I don't mind a bit because it is my passion and obsession even the
annoying tech stuff. I am fortunate that it is an impossible task to learn everything about these incredible machines and the ever developing
programs that run on them and so I will have fodder for my obsession for ever and ever... which is simply wonderful.
My first digital image was uploaded to my gallery at Renderosity.com in February of 2001. Looking back through my Renderosity gallery I
see in my artwork the twistings and turnings of my life since I began my digital exploration and find that I am satisfied with my lot.
Now I look forward to seeing the development of what is sure to be an interesting and amazing future of technological advance in all areas of society and I am amazed sometimes at the speed in which technical advances have occurred. I remember when I was young thinking that Video phone was just a pipedream at least for the next 50 years and here we are using video phones not to mention the amazing advances in other areas of technology.
The Study Stuff
I have completed Certificate4 in Visual and Applied Art (the first year of a diploma in Visual and Applied Art) but due to the fact that
only the first year in a three year diploma was run locally, It was never completed. I was not willing to leave my home and take my family more
than 500 kilometres away when we live in a place we all love with the people we love.
A year after completing the Certificate4 in Visual and Applied Art, I completed a certificate in Art practice just because there was nothing else to do and the other two years of the diploma was still not being run locally.
In 2006 I discovered that nothing had changed in the Art's area but I had found a true passion earlier in the year 2000, a love of digital modelling and image creation that I developed together with my passion for web design. My return to study was prompted by a desire to learn more and since I could not learn more in the traditional arts, this time I would run along a slightly different 'vein' so I completed a Certificate 3 in Information Technology including a Certificate 4 module in Html. My goal for the future is to devote my career to programming and website development and also to continue modelling 3D files.
The Life Stuff.
My name is Becki, I am a mum of two sons whom I love more than anything in the entire universe.
I have been an artist as long as I can remember though not truly appreciating it until year 11 high school when I got the chance to explore
other mediums besides coloured pencils and acrylic poster paint. I had been told many times that I could not make a career in art, that art is not work...
I did not realise that I could make a living from my art until several years later.
When I left school I intended to become a designer chef until I got my first job as a kitchen hand in a local hotel and found that I
did NOT want to be a chef at all - I enjoyed cooking interesting creations a whole lot but I enjoyed having a 'life' a LOT more.
I decided before I ever had children that I was going to be a stay at home mum until my kids were in highschool so study and career went
on hold for a few years when my first son was born.
The idea of 'stay at home mum' didn't last very long... I worked seasonally 'picking' Crayfish when my son turned two and De Facto Hubby was a stay
at home dad every now and then as we discovered that all the Family day care ladies we tried turned out to be incredibly inept.
Over the next few years until my son was in Kindergarten I worked seasonally in varying occupations and occasionally as a casual totalisator
clerk at the horse races.
I decided I needed to study further and eventually design a career that I could maintain from home if I was going to continue my artistic callings
and ultimately retain my sanity. Many years later I find that this was indeed the best decision I could have made for my kids.
The Hometown Stuff
I live in a regional city called Mount Gambier. Located in the South East of South Australia, the Mount Gambier area boasts some very
interesting tourism sites.
The Blue Lake is the city's drinking water and changes to a brilliant blue each year around March. The Tantanoola and Naracoorte caves are amazing
and there are many beautiful beaches and interesting things to see, a good reason to pop in someday and check out the area.

The Family stuff
I have two great sons (who would kill me if I talked about them here so I won't) and a cat called Rastus.
Rastus is my third baby boy and is four and a half years old.
He is almost human... at least he thinks he is anyway as so many cats do.
My sons have a black cat each and their names are Speedy (who is fluffy) and Dennis (who is smooth). Dennis is actually called Dennis the Menace as he has been a menace his whole life. Dennis is turning 11 years old soon and has a little arthritis but he doesn't look a day over two. Speedy is 9 years old this year and is still as fast as he ever was but he tends to sleep in the rain a bit too much and matts up his tail hair in doing so, Speedy hates being brushed but he will put up with it in winter.
We have two dogs called Sydney and Wombat.
Sydney is a purebred Australian Terrier and she likes to jump on the trampoline with my younger son but Wombat who is Australian terrier Cattle dog cross only gets up there because she gets jealous but she doesn't like to jump.
