The Owner of Life

Human Lives Belong to God.

God says, "All souls are mine" (Ezekiel 18:4).

One of God's titles is, "Thou God of the spirits of all flesh" (Numbers 16:22; 27:16).

Life and death are matters of what "the Lord wills" (James 4:14-15).

God joins spirit with flesh, and only he has authority to separate them. Nobody else owns a human life, only God.

Not even parents own their children. Only God does.

This fact is important when we consider the question of abortion.

Anyone who causes or contributes to a human death, whether in the womb or out of it, must be sure they are an instrument of God, for they are certainly accountable to him.

We must think on that question with much reverence and awe, knowing that we are each personally responsible and answerable to Almighty God in whom we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28).

And to "Jesus who will judge the living and the dead at his appearing" (2Timothy 4:1).
