Tips on how to use simplybible.com effectively.
Refreshing pages... It is advisable for pc users to refresh a page revisited after a few days. We do not force your browser to reload. Your browser may be showing you an old copy of a page or using out-of-date system files, rather than the latest version on the server. This means you are not seeing the proper page display. It's a good idea to hold down the Ctrl button on your keyboard while you refresh the page. This helps to ensure that the browser reloads all the files needed for a true refresh.
Active content... on this site is controlled by scripts (JavaScript). Security systems watching over your computer may disable these. In this case, you will see only a simple version of the page without the bells and whistles. However, even with scripts disabled, you will still be able to view, navigate, and enjoy simplybible.com quite successfully. (Your system is currently disabling Javascript).
Printing of pages... Pages on simplybible.com will print in a special format. Only the essential content will print, saving you paper and ink, and giving you a neat and readable presentation for handouts. Some pages are available as pdf documents. In such cases, a "pdf" button will appear at the bottom of the article. There will also be a "pdf" icon in Pick a Box. More often, you will see a red "print" button at the end of an article. There will also be a PRINT icon in Pick-a-box. These "print" buttons give you a preview of the format that automatically goes to your printer. It is not necessary to use these buttons before you ask your browser to print. You might need to use your browser’s own print preview to adjust printing to 100% —if you have a shrink-to-fit function enabled. For more information see Page Options.
Narrow Windows... If you wish to display simplybible.com in a narrow window, you will find that most pages will do a fair job of rearranging themselves to fit. The site is designed to display the majority of pages reasonably well in wide or narrow windows. If you resize your browser window while viewing a page, the content will “word wrap” for you. However as you make the window narrower, things will get messy. All you have to do is refresh or re-load the page. There is a “fix page” button at the top right of the page for this purpose. The page will then organize itself, as will any subsequent pages opened. You may lose some bells and whistles, especially if you go extremely narrow.
Site Map... shows you the design of the Simply Christians Australia site. It gives you access to service, help, and information pages, to the contents page, and to alphabetical and topical indexes, which in turn link you to simplybible.com's study pages. There is also a list site map. I have furthermore provided a page explaining the structure of simplybible.com and if you are a regular user, I recommend that you read it.
Index pages... There are alphabetical and topical index pages. These are available from the Home Page, The Hub, or the Topics Page and from Pick-a-Box at the bottom of each page. You can also directly access an alpha index by entering a single letter into SiFi.
Threads Pages... provides other topical groupings. Lessons on simplybible.com are grouped into topical series. However many other topics are covered by lessons scattered among several series. Such lessons are connected as it were by threads to provide alternative lesson sets. When a lesson belongs to a thread, there will be a yellow THREAD box in the pick-a-box array. Just click or press on that box to get the thread listing.
What’s New Page... lists the latest additions to the Simply Christians Australia site. If you use this site a lot, this page helps you find new material. The page lists all new lessons (latest at top), and informs you of recent developments.
Scripture Text... may be provided from Bibles on line, where lessons are based primarily on one portion of Scripture. The online Bible used is the World English Bible (WEB). The copyright on this version allows it to be used as though it were public domain. You can access the scripture text by using links provided or via a yellow TEXT box in the Pick-a-Box array. You can always get any book of the Bible anytime from the Pick-a-Box array, just by clicking or pressing on the blue ABBREV box. In the resulting table of Bible books, click or press on the abbreviation of a book name, and that book will appear. Of course you have to be online or have the book cached to access a book from the online Bible.
Annotations... help to make useful extra information available to a page without clutter on the page itself. The small question-mark symbol following a word, indicates the existence of an annotation regarding that word. Click or press the symbol. A page will open to display the extra information. A back link will take you back to the page where you were.
