Coloured Angora Goats

Pardalotte Coloured Angora Goat Stud |
The Pardalotte Stud is a small herd that began with a chance mating of two purebred white Angoras, which produced a jet-black doe kid. The same criterion applies to this herd as to my Croajingolong Angoras. As all pedigree lines trace back to the purebred Banksia herd. There has been no upgrading with ferals or dairy goats.
As from August 2002 they are known as Australian Heritage Coloured Angora goats and listed with Rare Breeds Trust of Australia as critically endangered.
My aim is to produce a solid-coloured Angora with good conformation and a fine fleece. At present I have a few coloured Angoras with a small white patch on the side.

I shear the goats standing up in a shearing stand. The height is adjustable so I can shear the smallest kid up to the biggest buck. They are generally well behaved and just stand there. Goats actually hate being tipped up and usually yell their heads off if shorn in the conventional way like they shear sheep. |
